»Dvelo.org allows partnered MFIs (microfinance institutions) the opportunity to raise funds directly from potential lenders (thereby removing the institutional and commercial entities from the investment process). Before becoming a partnered MFI, the institution must meet the minimum operational and performance criteria that Dvelo.org requires.
»The minimum criteria for field partnership includes regular internet access with email capabilities, a MIX Market profile, English communication capabilities, a third party performance rating (such as MicroRate, PlaNet Finance, etc.), an active pursuit in US$ loans, transparent and comprehensive record keeping, and a recognizable social impact in your region.
»In addition to meeting the minimum criteria listed, the partnership selection process also includes Dvelo.org’s review of an MFI’s ratings from a varying number of sources, a review of the MFI’s risk management, overall past performance, and their continued social commitment. The process is also influenced by Dvelo.org’s need to balance region and lender demand, portfolio risk, and other factors.
»Right now, we are focusing on microfinance field partners, but Dvelo will eventually open the model up for other revenue generating, sustainable, poverty-alleviating efforts seeking loan capital instead of just donor capital.
»Email us at partners@dvelo.org to receive more information on potential partnership. If selected, you can be raising funds within weeks.
